The Fledged Emergent

Paper laser cut, 182*40 cm, 2025

A pair of black laser-cut paper works, based on frames captured from a generative animation in VVVV. Each figure was composed from a different algorithmic process: " The Fledged Emergent Right" was created from Brownian noise generating feather-like shapes, while " The Fledged Emergent Left" was composed of sequences of circular segments of varying width. After extracting the images from the code, they were manually processed into a continuous mesh allowing the material to hold itself without falling apart. The figures are placed in the gallery's ceiling openings, emphasizing their distance and status as part of a "higher sphere."

The work examines the transformation of code into an entity with mythical weight. Placing the figures in a high and inaccessible location turns them into "digital cherubs" or gatekeepers instilling a state of consciousness on what transpires below. These creatures, born from statistical disturbances and algorithmic noise, take the form of angels or wondrous birds, bridging the gap between the virtual space of the code and the sacred space of architecture. They represent the "spawn"—the moment of budding where mathematics becomes symbol and spirit
