The Envoy of Time

3D Print, 23*24 cm, 2025

A 3D-printed object formed by the combination of two geometric forces: an algorithm simulating the layered growth of Agate stone, applied to the morphology of "Taihu stones"—traditional Chinese limestone rocks whose unique shape was created by prolonged water erosion. The work was inspired by Paul Prudence's concept of "Lithic Imagination," which examines stones as a space for conscious projection and geological memory.

The work serves as material evidence of the tension between the eternal and the ephemeral. In Eastern tradition, Taihu stones symbolize the endurance of matter against the forces of time that have carved channels and holes into it; here, slow geological time is replaced by fast "algorithmic time." The piece suggests an observation of the stone not as inanimate, but as an entity in a constant process of crystallization and disintegration, marking the "Envoy" that stands as a buffer between ancient laws of nature and their computer simulation.
